Even as a boy, Mamouri Takitani, founder of Hawaiian host wanted to become the best ever candy maker. Together with his wife, Aiko, he started experimenting with various types of chocolates. Mixing and perfecting the taste he desired, Takitani started dipping macadamia nuts into his secret mixture of chocolate. Therefore making such a big hit on Maui.

Takitani then moved to Honolulu and bought Ellen Dyes Candies, a local confectioner since 1927, and changed the name to Hawaiian Host. Only equipped with his genius discovery, he was shortly attending orders all over Oahu.

Today, both islanders and visitors simply adore his original recipe and other chocolate concoctions. And, to pay back its victory, they launched the Mamoru and Aiko Takitani Founcation to support high school students in Hawaii. Hawaiian Host has a great website displaying Hawaii Chocolates.
